Because we are saved by grace
alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone,
God gets all the glory.
Salvation is a free gift
because it is a receiving of God’s righteousness
apart from any human doing. Since we are saved by
grace as a gift of God, all the glory goes to God
alone. There will be no human praise in heaven.
Christianity is a unique
religion because it is not man made. It is the
revelation of God.
“But now apart from the Law the
righteousness of God has been manifested, being
witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ
for all those who believe” (Romans 3:21-22). The
reason God does it that way is because it is
impossible for sinners to save themselves, “for
there is no distinction, for all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a
gift by His grace through the redemption which is in
Christ Jesus” (vv. 23-24).
The word “Law” in this passage
embraces all our human effort to attain a right
relationship with God. The Bible clearly teaches
that God’s righteousness is received as a gift apart
from any human effort. We do not contribute anything
in any manner to our justification.
All our human efforts bring
upon us the judgment of God.
Take a few moments and look
into your own heart and see in whom or what you are
trusting for salvation. Have you ceased from your
works for God in order to attain a right
relationship with Him? Or are you resting on the
work that was accomplished for you by Jesus Christ
on the cross? “Righteousness apart from the law” is
righteousness that God provides. It is righteousness
apart from anything we do to merit or gain it. The
work of righteousness is fully accomplished by
Christ Jesus.
“Righteousness apart from the
law” does not even consider our nature or character,
but is prepared for us and received as a gift from
God. We receive it by abandoning all hope in
salvation from anything that we do or merit. God
provides it based upon the finished work of Christ
Jesus on the cross.
Since we are saved by grace
alone through faith alone in Christ alone we can be
saved right now. Our salvation depends on what God
has already done in Christ on the cross for us. The
finished work of Jesus Christ is the only basis upon
which God can declare us in a right relationship
with Him. Salvation can be ours now by simply
believing on Jesus Christ as our Savior.
The apostle Paul wrote,
“Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by
the works of the Law but through faith in Christ
Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so
that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not
by the works of the Law; since by the works of the
Law no flesh will be justified” (Galatians 2:16).
Since we are saved by grace
alone through faith alone in Christ alone we can
have the assurance of salvation now. There could be
no assurance of salvation if it depended on human
works, merits, or effort (Rom. 8:1; 1 John 5:13).
What God began in you by His
grace He will finish (Phi. 1:6). He will see your
salvation through to completion. He has a great
investment in you and He will not lose it.
