"We never test the resources of God until we attempt the impossible" - R. G. Lee

"We must do something!

Lengthen the cords! Strengthen the stakes!

Expect great things from God! Attempt great things for God!

The King! The King!!

The continents! The continents! Here am I send me, send me!"
-- William Carey,
father of the modern missionary movement.

Van driver trusting in Christ as his Savior.

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

n our first day of ministry in Chachapoyas, we distributed over 700 bilingual English-Spanish New Testaments to university students. The reception by the students was enthusiastic. The administration and staff were open to our sharing Christ with their students.

Beautiful new university campus in Chachapoyas, Peru

Each night we participated in evangelistic services in a rented municipal theater in down town Chachapoyas. These services were well attended with contemporary Christian music provided by local groups. The preaching was Spirit-filled.

Chachapoyas, Peru

Dr. Michael Waldrop invited Wil to join the mission team from Calhoun Baptist Association, Calhoun, Mississippi. The goal was to train pastors and church leaders in a partnership with Asociacion Cristiana Bautista Emauel (Emanuel Baptist Association) in Chachapoyas, Peru. Three Quechua Baptist churches compose this new association in Chachapoyas, Shipata and Nuevo Tingo. We are also praying that the Baptist Church of Pedro Ruiz will also become a part of this new association.

Some of over 50 participants in Evangelism in Depth workshop

Pastors from Mississippi taught workshops on the doctrines of God, and salvation the last couple of years. This was an ideal time for Wil to join them and teach personal evangelism. The workshop was well attended and participation was excellent.

Please continue to pray for the work in northern Peru. We are waiting on the Lord for direction for next year.

A group of new translators for IMB mission teams from the U. S. will be trained in evangelism using Wil's evangelism textbook later this year.

Ecuadorian selling CD's in Chachapoyas, Peru

One day a team member and Wil walked down the street an heard two men playing their guitars and singing. Wil commented, "That is not Peruvian music; that is Quechua from Ecuador." Sure enough these Ecuadorians were singing and selling their CD's on a street corner.

We have been invited to present evangelism workshops in Riobamba, Ecuador, in November 2010. Alberto Copa is pastor of Iglesia "Jesucristo el Libertador" and Director of Seminario Teologico Peniel. We look forward to working together with this mission minded church and the staff at Peniel. They have a focused vision on theological education and a commitment to fulfill God's will for the indigenous Andean churches in Chimborazo Province.

what you can do

Partnership missions gives you an opportunity to become personally involved in what God is doing in world missions.

Pray daily for the work in Honduras.

q       Pastor and Church Leadership Training Ministry in Honduras.

q                   Pray for three evangelism saturation teams to do door-to-door evangelism and rallies at night.

q                   We have prepared one-day Evangelism Workshops for churches in Latin America.  These are patterned after the personal evangelism course we teach pastors and church leaders, but are shorter.  This course has proven to be very practical and effective in personal evangelism. It was first used in Ecuador and Honduras.  The vision for training rural pastors began with this course in mind while serving as a missionary in Honduras.

Juan Alberto and his familyq       Juan Alberto Herrera Ministry Alberto has faithfully served 18 years as a contract worker with mission teams. We agree with him that it is God’s will for him to serve as a full-time evangelist and pastor.  Juan pastors a Honduran Baptist Convention church in Danli. He is our Director for Pastor and Church Leadership Training in Honduras.

Juan Alberto Herrera is an evangelist and pastor of Alpha and Omega Baptist Church.
