irst Good Samaritan Baptist Church in Palacaguina, Nicaragua, was the host of an Evangelism in Depth conference in August 2008. Pastors and church leaders put into practice personal evangelism.

There is a warm receptive spirit in the hearts of the people of northern Nicaragua for the simple truth of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Individuals made decisions for Christ as participants in our workshop went door to door witnessing during the day and at the evangelistic services each night.

The conference in Palacaguina was concluded with a baptism service at a nearby river. During a torrential rain, I had the privilege of baptizing several believers who had completed discipleship classes.

In Ocotal, Nicaragua, Alberto and I followed-up on a group of leaders we had trained earlier this year. We concentrated on a new area where pastor José Luis Ortega is starting a home Bible study. This is an excellent way to reach the lost and get new believers involved in discipleship.

In Danli, Honduras, Dr. John Howell and an evangelistic team joined us to work in Las Acacias subdivision. I trained his team before they came to Honduras. When they arrived they were ready to begin door-to- door witnessing. At the same time I led a group of pastors and church leaders in Evangelism in Depth. Together the two teams gave out 2,000 Gospels of John and a special tract comparing historical Biblical Christianity with the Mormon cult. These were well received by the community. Over a hundred individuals prayed to receive Christ as their personal Savior. Both teams also spent one day witnessing in the town of Zapotillo with excellent results.

Two more Evangelism in Depth teams are being prepared for ministry in Zapotillo and Danli in February 2009. We also have invitations for Lepaterique, Honduras, and new mission churches in Nicaragua.

Partnership missions gives you an opportunity to become personally involved in what God is doing in world missions.

q Pray for three evangelism saturation teams to do door-to-door evangelism and rallies at night.

q We have prepared one-day Evangelism Workshops for churches in Latin America. These are patterned after the personal evangelism course we teach pastors and church leaders, but are shorter. This course has proven to be very practical and effective in personal evangelism. It was first used in Ecuador and Honduras. The vision for training rural pastors began with this course in mind while serving as a missionary in Honduras.

q Juan Alberto Herrera Ministry Alberto has faithfully served 18 years as a contract worker with mission teams. We agree with him that it is God’s will for him to serve as a full-time evangelist and pastor. Juan pastors a Honduran Baptist Convention church in Danli. He is our Director for Pastor and Church Leadership Training in Honduras.
