"We must do something!

Expect great things from God! Attempt great things for God!" -- William Carey,
father of the modern missionary movement.

Workmen Approved of God

Evangelism workshop students shown sharing Christ with man on the street in northern Nicargua

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

Training leaders is the heart of discipleship. Abide in Christ has the goal of training church leaders to train other leaders.

Aristides Bustillo giving personal witnessing demonstration in class

In Nicaragua we have been training Aristides Bustillo and David Zedon to take the leadership in evangelism training among Nicaraguan pastors. Wil divides up the presentation so all three will have equal opportunities to teach different subjects of the course content. This process has been going on over the past three years. Aristides and David can now take the materials and teach them with authority and confidence throughout the country. Abide in Christ recently printed another thousand manuals for use in Nicaragua. We are also following a similar goal in Ecuador.

Our evangelism workshops are designed to teach personal evangelism using the "Roman Road." Students mark their New Testaments and go door-to-door sharing Christ. We include a session on the characteristics of the "false gospels" or cults which are rampant in Latin America.

Aristides Bustillo with new motorbike

Abide in Christ recently provided Aristides a motorbike to help with his transportation needs as he works with the churches in the northern region of Nicaragua. He is president of the northern region of Baptist churches. He is an avid and successful church planter. During the past four years he has used our workshops to start eleven new churches and missions in the northern region. Beginning 2013 he will begin a new church plant in Estelí in central Nicaragua. Abide in Christ will provide financial help to establish this new ministry.

We also need a motorbike for David in his ministry at Totogalpa.

David helps Wil with translation when team members who do not speak Spanish go to Nicaragua. He also works with Abide in Christ Spanish language websites. David and his wife Carolina have two new mission churches in rural communities in Tototgalpa. They are supported by Abide in Christ. Here is a report on the work in Totogalpa.

Students in the evangelism class learn how to give their salvation testimonies. This was my life before I believed on Christ as my Savior, this is how and when I placed my trust in His death and resurrection, and this is how Christ has changed my life. The student shown above said, "I never knew how to witness until I came to this workshop. Now I know how to share my faith in Christ. I am excited about sharing Christ with my friends and neighbors." She and her husband are active members of the local church. He is also a leader in the local government.

We thank the Lord for individuals who make the salvation bracelets and provide them for our training classes and for evangelism teams who go with us to Ecuador and Nicaragua.

q     We are presenting one-day, three-day weekend, and one week Evangelism Workshops in churches in Latin America.  These are proven practical and effective personal evangelism workshops for pastors and church leaders. The vision for training rural pastors began with a course on personal evangelism while serving as a missionary in Ecuador and Honduras.
