Short-term Volunteer Mission Projects designed with a clear focus on church
planting in Honduras.
El Playon de Paz, Honduras, September 21-25, 2003.
e want to discover where God is at work, and see if He
would have us join Him in what He is doing in this community with this team at
this time. On a recent medical-dental-evangelism survey trip, Pablo and I decided to return to the city of La Paz where we looked up a member of the Baptist church who was employed at the Texaco station. He told us where we could find his pastor, but in our conversation with the pastor, we discovered the church was going through a difficult time and they had no missions or preaching points, and this was not a good time for them to start a new work. However, he did know another Baptist pastor in town, Carlos Martinez, whose church had missions.
Pablo and I went to Carlos’s house near La Paz, and he began to share with us how his church had been praying for almost a year for a mission team from the North Carolina Convention Partnership to come and work, but they never came to work with the church. We went with the pastor about an hour’s drive up the mountainous road to 5,500 feet above sea level looking down on La Paz and the valley below. We met with the rural nurse at the community clinic, school teachers, community leaders, etc. Carlos and his church were making the trip up the mountain each week to hold preaching services and witness. As we left El Playon de Paz that afternoon, we had a deep sense that this was a place where God was at work and that He wanted one of our teams to minister here.
We must never make an apology
for being in dead earnest about world missions . . . We must not retreat until
Jesus Christ tells us he made a mistake in coming into the world to redeem men. I SAW GOD DO IT!
What you can doPartnership missions gives you an opportunity to become personally involved in what God is doing in world missions.
Juan Alberto Hererra Ministry Alberto has faithfully served 18 years as a contract worker with our mission teams. He is a faithful pastor in Danli and is helping us start a Bible institute extension program for rural pastors in Honduras. Go on a medical-dental-evangelism team.
